Make and Mend
Unfortunately Wells ended up in the hospital with a blown out knee. Doesn't sound good. Hope the morphine helps. We're using the weekend to do simple maintenance, etc etc.

8 bells in the first watch
We got quite the rain storm out here early this morning. It blew through about an hour ago and left the boat rocking and the wind whistling through the rigging. Quite a bit of rain, too, from the looks of it. Our anchor held beautifully and the wind remained out of the southwest. It looks like the bulk of the rain is beyond us and we anticipate a nice sail home later this morning.

Kathy Sailing

Kathy at the helm enroute to Potter Cove. Arrived at the Cove at about 1:30 and anchored just off the Quonset huts.
We had a nice, brisk sail out here with only one or two slight mishaps. But apparently the wooden boat hooks really do float! We were abe to retrieve ours from the water quite handily after a stray jib sheet tore it out of its holder and launched it over the side.

Third Beach, Middletown, RI
A pretty sloop anchored off of a very private beach.
Now serving Yves Cliquot '03 to celebrate our arrival at third beach.
Bound for Third Beach
We left Edgewood last night at about 6 and motored to Prudence. Got up this morning to a beautiful, cool and dry northerly. We set sail at about 930 for Third Beach. Winds are out of the North West, shifting westerly. We're on a gorgeous beam/broad reach all the way down the river. With Jim at the helm, Carol went below to make PB&J. She's getting quite good at cooking on an angle.
Anchoring at Third Beach will be a new experience for us, believe it or not. Somehow in all these years of sailing we've just never made it there.Sunday, August 06, 2006
2 bells in the forenoon watch

His Lordship made it through the night without (a) falling overboard; (b) keeping us up all night. He has, however, found out how to navigate in and out of the portholes. We rigged an emergency cat line (a large line hanging over the side) just in case. He was up with the dawn this morning and rousted out the crew. Fortunately, despite a mad dash through the porthole onto the captain's belly, the captain did not have to get up and supress mutiny.

Potter Cove w/ the Admiral
We motored first to Cove Haven Marina in Bullocks Cove to tank up on diesel- 27 gallons worth. It was a tight fit, and I have to say I did a very nice job of turning the boat in about a boat length and a half. We filled up and then motored to Potter Cove. The wind just kicked in (6 bells in the afternoon watch) and the breeze feels great. His Lordship has found a nice cozy spot down below that doesnt seem to be subject to much movement.
