Kerry and Sarah Weekend Day 2
We awoke at 8 bells in the morning watch to find the sky sunny but the fog rolling in. Mount Hope Bridge (left) was barely visible through the mist. Fortunately the stuff burned off before it could surround us. It appears as though we have cheated the weather gods again... cloudy with showers and thunderstorms turned into gorgeous and mostly sunny, with the rain passing well to our north.Along the way we got a call from Scotty, who was a passenger on the Providence-Newport ferry. We changed our plans and set sail for Newport instead of Dutch Harbor. We grabbed a mooring at Ida Lewis and are awaiting Scottty and Casey.

Kerry and Sarah Weekend

We left Edgewood at about 2 bells in the first dog, and arrived at Potter Cove at around 8 bells in the first watch. Sarah got some time at the helm, aided by our professional sailing instructor Kerry.
We arrived just in time for evening colors. Cocktail 'hour' lasted until 4 bells in the first watch, when Kerry started on dinner.

NECTA Day 6, Second Dog

Seven bells in the second dog, just getting ready for evening colors. Some great sunset photos from the docks at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol.

NECTA Day 4

Jose and Jim arrived by the ferry from Providence at 3 bells in the forenoon watch and we set sail shortly thereafter. We arrived at the Kickamuit at about 6 bells in the afternoon watch. Jose was good enough to do his "flipper" imitation and clean the prop, while Jim does what he does best... supervise...

NECTA Day 1
Jen, Tom and Kathy Cruise Day 3

A very quick sail home in about 25kts of wind. Made it from Conanicut to EYC in under 3 and a half hours. Jen took the helm for at least part of the way, but as the wind picked up and the seas built, Tom took over.

Jen, Tom and Kathy Cruise Day 2 Forenoon Watch

We awoke sometime in the forenoon watch (some of us earlier than others) to a beautiful though becalmed morning off Prudence. After consulting the marine forecast we set sail for Jamestown.

We left from Edgewood at about 730. We motored to BP and then set sail with main, mizzen and staysail. For most of the trip we were making between 5 and 6 knots, and arrived off Potters at about 10. Cocktails from 10 to 11. Dinner, though late, was fantastic.

Tall Ships Cruise Day 7

We decided to make for Potter Cove instead of the Kickamuit to make for a shorter sail home and to get a better view of the fireworks. With very little wind, and all of that right on the nose, we ended up motoring the whole way. We arrived shortly after 2 bells in the afternoon watch and picked up a friend's mooring.
We got a pretty good view of a nasty marina fire just south of the Mount Hope Bridge, and listened to the various units responding for several hours.
I did another successful test of the onboard shower. The water was actually fairly hot after that 2 hour motor.

Tall Ships Cruise Day 6, First Watch

The anchorage at Dutch was wonderful. Friend Brett from Cleveland and his father-in-law joined us for an evening beverage. Carol made a fabulous pizza, and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
Tall Ships Cruise Day 6
Left Fishers Island at about 1030 to catch the favorable current into Narragansett Bay. Currently off Ninigret Pond sailing at about 6 kts for Pt Judith, then turning north into the West Passage and to Dutch Harbor. Managed to contact Wells on the radio off Weekapaug Point. Reached Brett Woods on the cell phone, he may try to meet us at Ducth for a drink. Though the mooring field at Dutch is full, the launch service does provide rides to and from the anchorage, and their dockside pump-out is working. We'll be visiting it before we anchor.
